In that time he has to fight battles against many kings who were sent by Akbar including the battle against his uncle who wanted to take over Chittor after being evicted from it. Pratap's struggles, his victories against all odds and the love of his people and his wife for him, is displayed beautifully through the movie. He could never conquer Chittor without his father and brother because he received a special treasure which helped him to fight against all odds. The revelation of this treasure takes place in the great final battle for Chittor . The story of Maharana Pratap has been told many times over in books, plays, films and TV serials. However, the makers of this film claim that their interpretation of the story is more close to reality than others. Actor Arjun Kapoor is seen playing the title role of Maharana Pratap in this film. The film was shot extensively in Rajasthan and Udaipur . He is supported by a talented cast including Sonal Chauhan as Jodha Bai, Bijay Anand Rathore as Rawal Ratan Singh , Harshvardhan Rane as Kachhap, Amrapali Gupta as Kunwari Shakuntala and Nasseruddin Shah as Akbar. In addition to direction, J P Dutta has also written the screenplay for the film. The film is produced by Farhan Akhtar.
The movie was released on 23 June 2013. The music for the film has been done by A R Rahman, who has typically worked for films like Slumdog Millionaire, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which featured Shah Rukh Khan and Judi Dench.
It was later announced that Shahrukh Khan would star in an adaptation of the film titled "Maharaja". While playing Shahrukh Khan's role, Arjun Kapoor clashed with him over his performance during the making of "Dilwale", which starred both actors.
